Christina Rossetti

So I am a senior in high school. My teacher decided that we must learn about female writers, so she assigned each person a female writer as a topic for a research paper. My writer is the brilliant Christina Rossetti. She is really interesting to me, like absolutely astonishing. I just thought I should share with everyone her very first poem:

To my Mother

“To-day’s your natal day,
Sweet flowers I bring;
Mother, accept, I pray,
My offering.

And may you happy live,
And long us bless;
Receiving as you give
Great happiness.”

This was written in 1842. Now I must say, this is pretty damn good. Especially since she was only eleven years old when she wrote this. Eleven years old. Brilliant.

She has some very interesting works. I am very impressed.
